Keep in mind if $100 is sales & 20% is your margin you make $20 in profit & you have to pay $51 for Shopify. Of course you will make for more than $100 per month but not in the first month right? They also support apps like Oberlo which help you Import products right from Aliexpress.

As I explained before you should be ready to invest $50-$100 in Shopify just to host your website per month aside from advertising & stuff like that. While Shopify does offer free themes there are only 5-6 free themes available which are very limited to what WordPress has to offer. Even the 5-6 free themes are very limited to customization. If you are more of a design guy, chances are your website speed on Shopify will be awfully slow resulting in low customer retention & will not help you save money while starting a new eCommerce store

Where Shopify is more of an eCommerce brand, WordPress is a content management service that means WordPress is open to unlimited niches & unlimited customizations. There are over 55% of WordPress websites than any other websites on the Internet which is crazy as half of Internet websites you visit are WordPress websites.

I actually can’t think of any more con’s because I’ve been using WordPress for quite a time now but using WordPress is just great however Shopify is not like a dumb product in the market, but for me I can’t use Shopify possibly now. WordPress is difficult but not that difficult because of thousands of free guides available on youtube as well as many trusted websites like Wpbeginner which is a great website if you want to start a WordPress website. Also as there is no one-stop customer support you will have to contact your hosting account provider for any issues you have & they’ll be happy to help you as they also offer 24/7 customer support.

I have personally used WordPress as well as Shopify so I’m biased towards WordPress, but if you are in the eCommerce business for a long run and you want to create a brand as well as save money while starting a new eCommerce store you should definitely go with WordPress as It’s the best option for a long run.
