Is Dropshipping Still Alive? Google’s Proof
The short answer is YES. Dropshipping business is not going to die anytime soon. It’s not the business model which is great but the people who are doing dropshipping. As long as someone is doing dropshipping & putting effort & money how can that business br dead or not profitable? If you can do it in a better way, give some extra value to the customer, provide better service YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel. Just make some parts better & boom you will begin to see results.
My tips to start out as a drop shipper.
Before starting a dropshipping business make sure you know these things –
- If you have a Job, Don’t quit it.
- You should at least have a budget of $2000-$3000 if you want to dropship for the long run.
- Don’t start dropshipping as soon as you hear about it. Give it 1-2 months to start. Research Dropshipping, Join some dropshipping communities on Reddit, facebook, etc.
- And don’t give up. Trust me everything works if you put in the effort.
If you follow my dropshipping guide & make sure you are ready then definitely you can succeed, so let’s start.
How Should I Start?
There are many things you should consider before starting a dropshipping business. Don’t get fooled by online gurus who claim that purchasing their courses, paid dropshipping guide & learning from them will increase your sales, let me tell you IT WILL NOT. We will talk about gurus in a while but let’s talk how can you get started.
- You should have some experience with business (Online or Retail)
- You will have to purchase a domain
- Pick a Niche
- You will have to purchase a Shopify or WooCommerce Plan
- Your budget should be at least approx $500-$2000 on Facebook/Instagram Ads to start getting sales
- You should have some designing experience or at least have a good taste & willingness to learn new things to avoid getting bankrupt.
I said you should have some business experience because starting a business is never easy. Some people work for years just making bare minimum money from there business in order to earn more money from that business in the future & dropshipping is the same.
Having some business experience is good because you will have the mindset of running a business is never easy. It is not required but I think it helps a lot if you come from a business perspective.
Basically you know it’s a failure but you still work on it so that it might just become successful & that’s the mindset you will require in dropshipping as competition & consumer awareness is very high in 2019 and will continue to do so.
Purchase a Domain ($12 approx)
You can purchase a domain from unlimited websites on the Internet. There are many recognizable domain name provider such as Google, Godaddy, Namecheap & many more. But I personally use Namecheap (Not Affiliated) because it has the lowest price on the market. You can search for the same domain name for Google, Godaddy, Hostinger, Namecheap & Namecheap is the cheapest & best option I got & you will too.
Before anything else, you need to pick a “Niche”. You might think you want to open a general store selling socks, electronics & pants at the same store to Increase your sales. That is the most common mistake ever. Even I did that mistake. Making a niche store will give you an advantage of targeting only a specific group of people in your niche. For example – If you open a clothing store you can target people who like fashion, you can create a fashion community, you can talk with people in other fashion communities & make your brand a specific Niche Brand.
Well, a common example is you don’t see Nike selling Electronic or Apple selling shoes.
Shopify or WooCommerce Plan
Well, of course, you will need either Shopify or Woocommerce. I’m hoping as you are new so you will go with the Basic Shopify plan which cost’s for $29/Month or any other it’s on you. On the other hand, Wocommerce will cost you a one time WordPress hosting – $2, WordPress designing which is very easy so I’ll count it as free $0, and some plugin expenses around $20-$30.
So Shopify will cost you $29/Month where WooCommerce will cost you a one time fee (Per year like hosting & stuff) of maximum $40-$50. I’ll soon release a blog comparing both so stay tuned for that.
Well, the toughest & the riskest part is here. Advertising is the most crucial part for you as it is the only thing that will bring sales & traffic to your website. Just like I will try to bring traffic to my dropshipping guide
If you are new or even existing drop shipper but you don’t have any experience with Facebook marketing I strongly recommend you get a Facebook course either free on youtube or udemy or paid.. Many have many complexities like when I started dropshipping & Advertising my account would get blocked in 1-2 days by facebook for violating a policy I didn’t even know.
Also, you can give a look at some free advertising sites such as Goaffpro, Market yourself on Instagram through hashtags & shares to win giveaways & stuff. Be creative:)
So make sure you read in-depth facebook policies if you want to advertise on facebook according to your country & country you are going to advertise in.
If you are a graphic designer or know something about graphic designing you will save a lot of money in dropshipping business. Designing is required in logo, web designs, product designs (T-shirts & stuff), Advert designs and many other things. You can save some serious money in dropshipping if you put some effort into designing.
Well, you’ll say “But Pratik, I don’t know anything about designing”
But if you don’t want to go through all of this, you can still hire someone from Fiverr or upwork & you’ll find some great people with affordable prices.
I explained the start process of a dropshipping business now it’s up to you if you follow and take it seriously or lose out some money & then learn.
You must have heard of Scott hilse, King comm, Adrian Morrison & many other gurus. I’m not saying all are fake but some are. And some courses are not even worth taking. I have personally taken King Comms course back in the day & trust me it was not worth it. if you want you can email me & I’ll personally send you some peoples courses that are worth taking & will not waste your time.
So starting a dropshipping business is going to be tough. You will at least need $2000-$3000 to Invest in dropshipping to get a guaranteed result & be there for long term. Before starting join some dropshipping or eCommerce communities & make some friends and see what is happening in those communities. Be a geek & research your Niche according to what you would like to sell & dominate the product. Give Goaffpro a shot or start advertising on facebook for as low as $5 a week & don’t waste your money on gurus courses & stuff. Try to learn on your own as much as possible from free Youtube, Udemy courses. I hope you learnt something through our dropshipping guide & we wish you the very best.
